Starting with the first batch of sunscreen mixed in the family kitchen, our skincare products use all natural ingredients to protect the skin and feed it the nourishment it needs. Because every ingredient comes from nature, all our organic skincare products are safe for people and the planet. And if you’re wondering about those long names in parenthesis after some ingredients, don’t worry! They’re based on the ingredient’s scientific name and are required on cosmetic packaging. We included them so you know what to look for.

Letter A

Aloe Vera Leaf Juice (Aloe Barbadensis)

The juice from the fleshy leaves of the aloe vera plant is great for the skin, so it’s used as an emollient in our sunscreens. It can also be used to treat burns. Ours is organic and the aloein has been removed.

Aluminum Hydroxide

We use aluminum hydroxide in some of our sunscreens as a coating to keep the titanium stable. Since the aluminum hydroxide is used as a coating, it will not be absorbed. The EWG gives aluminum hydroxide a 1, its safest rating. Aluminum hydroxide is very different from aluminum chlorohydrate, the ingredient commonly used in antiperspirants that has been associated with cancer and Alzheimer’s concerns. We feel using a combination of titanium and zinc is the safest, most effective way to offer sun protection. It goes on more sheer, is not absorbed and reflects the rays away, offering safe and gentle, yet powerful broad-spectrum protection.

Apricot Kernel Oil (Prunus Armeniaca)

A light, fast-absorbing oil, it is a great option for oily skin, but works well with all complexions. Rich in gamma linoleic acid, it is often used to firm and tone the skin, making it useful in anti-wrinkle products. It also has purported anti-inflammatory effects, and is used to soothe irritated skin.

Avocado Oil (Persea Gratissima)

Rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, this oil is ideal for sun-damaged skin, dry skin or mature skin. It is rapidly absorbed and helps speed nutrients deep into the skin. Some studies even suggest avocado oil can help diminish the appearance of dark spots. It can also be beneficial in treating wounds.
