Baby Bath and Body

Is the Goddess Garden Baby Bath and Body line safe for newborns?

We created the Goddess Garden Baby Bath and Body line with the specific needs of extra sensitive skin in mind, using only the most gentle ingredients available. The individual products use soothing botanicals like organic calendula, coconut oil and oatmeal to nourish delicate skin while you cleanse, protect and support healing. We do encourage patch tests before starting regular use, and as always, consult your doctor about any concerns or serious allergies.

Can I use these products on my baby if they have eczema?

Of course! Some of the products in our Baby Bath and Body line, like the Hydration Stick and Healing Ointment, are even intended to help ease eczema symptoms. Colloidal oatmeal and calendula help soothe irritated, dry or itchy skin and promote healing while organic botanicals like argan oil, aloe vera and coconut oil gently moisturize.

Are the products hypoallergenic and tested for allergies?

Because the FDA hasn’t set any regulation standards or testing requirements for these claims, we don’t love using them. What we can tell you is that our products are formulated to be safe for extra sensitive skin, and we always avoid ingredients that are likely to cause irritation. Nova started making clean skincare in the first place for her own baby daughter Paige, who was allergic to the harsh chemicals in conventional products. So our formulas have been tested by family and friends for years, and were specifically created with Paige—and babies like her—in mind.

Do your formulas contain phthalates or parabens?

No! Phthalates and parabens often hide in products under the broad ingredient label “fragrance,” but our scented formulas all receive their aroma from organic lavender essential oils and other natural ingredients. That means our Baby Bath and Body line is phthalate and paraben-free while still smelling sweet! Learn more about phthalates and parabens.

What are your products scented with?

We use only pure and organic botanical essential oils to scent our products. Many of the Baby Bath and Body formulas feature oils from lavender and peppermint, which are calming to the mind and soothing to the skin.

Why is water the first ingredient in the Baby Aloe Gel Spray?

The water is used to rehydrate the aloe vera. We use dehydrated aloe vera to avoid a potential issue with aloein, which is present in fresh aloe. High-aloein-containing products have raised some concerns, so we chose the safest route. We use certified-organic aloe vera powder, and the aloein is removed by filtering and rinsing the aloe plants during the process.

Does your aloe vera contain aloein?

Nope! We use dehydrated aloe vera powder from which aloein is removed by filtering and rinsing the plants during the process. We do this to avoid any potential issues raised by the aloein in fresh aloe, just to be safe!

What preservatives are in your formulations?

Preservatives are necessary to prevent the growth of bacteria and keep our products fresh. As always, we select them with sensitive skin in mind. For the Baby Bath and Body line, we use sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, radish root ferment filtrate, phytic acid, gluconic acid and coconut-derived glyceryl caprylate and caprylhydroxamic acid. Most of these ingredients have been given a rating of one by the EWG, their safest rating, and all are considered to be safe for use in body products by the FDA. Preventing the growth of bacteria in baby products is very important, and these ingredients are considered great options when the alternatives are harsh preservatives, like parabens, or the risk of not using preservatives at all.

Is this line non-irritating?

For all our products, we always avoid using ingredients that are likely to cause irritation, including synthetic fragrances, parabens and phthalates. Our formulas have also been tested by friends and family members with sensitive skin for years!

Are all products in the line vegan?

Yes! We’re proud to be a completely vegan company, all the way down to using plant-based wax from carnauba palm trees instead of beeswax to help our Hydration Stick, sunscreen sticks and lip balms keep their shape. You’ll be happy to know we’re also Leaping Bunny certified to be cruelty-free, so you never have to worry about our animal friends when you choose Goddess Garden.

Are the Baby Bath and Body products natural?

For all the formulas, we selected soothing organic and plant-based ingredients, with each product containing 70% certified-organic ingredients. When people refer to our products as “natural,” they probably mean that we’re a safer option than many conventional products because they’re free from harsh chemicals like synthetic fragrance, parabens and phthalates. In everything we do, we handpick the best and most gentle ingredients that will give our formulas wonderful benefits and a premium feel and without irritating sensitive skin.

Is the line organic?

Each formula is full of nourishing certified-organic botanicals, including shea butter, aloe vera, calendula and coconut oil—just to name a few!—and every product in the line contains 70% organic ingredients.

How much of the Relaxing Bubble Bath should I use?

This partly depends on preference, but it’s always best to start with a small amount and add as you go! Begin by adding two or three capfuls of the Relaxing Bubble Bath to running water, swish the water with your hands to increase the bubbles and add more formula if you wish!

Where can the Hydration Stick and Healing Ointment be applied?

The Hydration Stick and Healing Ointment were created for even the most sensitive skin and are safe to use wherever you want to soothe dryness or irritation. As always, our products are for external use only, so avoid applying close to your little one’s eyes or mouth.

What is colloidal oatmeal and how does it work?

Colloidal oatmeal is a gentle, naturally-derived ingredient known to help with dryness, eczema and irritated skin. Even though the word “colloidal” sounds a little scientific, it’s simply made from oats that have been ground up into very small pieces and added to water. When applied to the skin, natural oils and glucan in the oats replenish moisture deep down, while a soothing, protective barrier is created to prevent irritation.

Can I use these products on my baby who has a serious nut allergy?

We suggest reading the ingredient list for each formula to make sure they don’t contain anything your baby should avoid, and if not, perform a small patch test and wait at least 24 hours before starting regular use. We use organic oils in our formulas, some of which come from shea nuts and coconuts (which are sometimes considered to be nuts). We are also not a nut-free facility, so we cannot guarantee there has been no cross-contamination.

If my baby experiences a reaction to one of your products, what should I do?

We use only the most gentle ingredients in our formulas, including organic plant-based ingredients, but individual allergies to certain plants and oils can’t always be predicted or prevented. If your baby experiences a reaction, such as a rash, discontinue use immediately and consult your doctor if the symptoms don’t go away. We recommend doing a patch test with our products before regular use to be extra safe.
