Because every ingredient comes from nature, all our organic skincare products are safe for people and the planet. And if you’re wondering about those long names in parenthesis after some ingredients, don’t worry! They’re based on the ingredient’s scientific name and are required on cosmetic packaging. Mango Fruit Extract (Mangifera Indica)

Naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids helps retain hydration, scavenge free radicals, promote collagen synthesis and stimulate regeneration. Many alpha hydroxy acids are too harsh to use daily, but if you have to skip days, it’s easy to forget to use them. Mango extract can be used daily, and can replace these harsh alpha hydroxy acids. The extract revives and brightens and helps keep skin hydrated and soft overnight.

Marula Kernel Oil (Sclerocarya Birrea)

An extra-stable oil, it has a naturally long shelf life without preservatives, and is 10 times more resistant to oxidation and rancidity than olive oil. High in linoleic acid (an omega-6 essential fatty acid), it is purported to help reduce redness caused by acne because it inhibits bacterial growth. Because of the high levels of oleic acid, it is easily absorbed and delivers nutrients deeper into the skin, while helping to form a protective barrier that locks in moisture.

Methyl Dihydroabietate

This ingredient is naturally derived from pine rosin, or the sap of conifer trees. If you’ve ever had any on your hands after a day in the woods, you might have experienced that rosin is water repellent. For this reason, we use it in our sunscreens so they can keep protecting your skin even if you’re catching waves or splashing in the pool! It also helps ensure that the protective minerals are evenly dispersed.

Myrica Cerifera (Bayberry) Fruit Wax

Bayberry fruit promotes smooth, moisturized skin and has age-defying properties, thanks to antioxidants! It also makes our natural mineral sunscreen sticks smooth and consistent by stabilizing oil mixtures that would otherwise begin to separate. In fact, this ingredient, like sunflower seed wax, is used as an alternative to beeswax, which is commonly used to optimize the texture of firm cosmetic products like lip balms. Bees travel remarkably far to create their wax, so we think it should stay in their hives where it belongs. Bayberry wax helps us achieve ethical products that we can feel good about using, in every way!
